What we collect
PreviewBound collects only what is necessary to operate the session system:
- Email address — received from Gumroad when you purchase a session. Used solely to associate your license key with your purchase.
- License key — generated by Gumroad on purchase. Used to validate and track your session.
- Session details — activation timestamp, expiry date, and plan type (1-week or 1-month).
- Device token — a randomly generated identifier stored in your browser's local storage. Used to bind your session to your device and prevent unauthorised sharing of license keys.
- Referral data — if you participate in our referral program, we store your referral code, commission records, and related purchase events.
- Basic request logs — anonymised endpoint and timing data retained for up to 60 days for performance monitoring and abuse prevention. No personal identifiers are logged.
What we do not collect
We do not store, retain, or have access to any book files, PDFs, cover files, manuscripts, or creative content you upload. Uploaded files are written to a temporary location on our server for the duration of your analysis job and deleted immediately after. They are never shared with or accessible to any third party.
We also do not collect your name, postal address, payment details (handled entirely by Gumroad), browsing history, or device fingerprints beyond the session token described above.
How we use your data
Your email and license key serve one purpose: confirming you have a valid paid session when you access premium features. We do not use your email for marketing, newsletters, or any unsolicited communication. We will only contact you if you reach out to us first or if your session has a technical problem that requires it.
Local storage
PreviewBound stores your license key and device token in your browser's local storage — not in cookies. This keeps your session active across page visits without tracking you. No advertising or third-party tracking is used.
Data storage and security
Session data is stored on our server with reasonable technical protections against unauthorised access. Session records are retained for support and fraud prevention purposes and deleted after they are no longer needed.
Third parties
PreviewBound uses Gumroad to process payments. Gumroad collects and processes your payment information under their own privacy policy. We receive only your email address and license key — never your card details. We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to any other third party.
Your rights
You may request deletion of your session record at any time by contacting support@previewbound.com. Since we hold only minimal data, deletion is straightforward and completed promptly.
